PRESENTED BY COMMERCE BANK

In conjunction with the St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024 induction ceremony, the St. Joseph Sports Commission is pleased to announce our second recipient of the Coach Bill Snyder Woman of Impact Award.

The Woman of Impact Award recognizes a female athlete, coach, administrator or a contributor that achieved an outstanding season or accomplishment over the past year.

The award is named in honor of St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2021 inductee Bill Snyder who spoke of the strong impact his mother Marionetta made on his life during his induction speech at the inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony. Coach Snyder, a St. Joseph native, Lafayette High School graduate and legendary Kansas State football coach will be on hand to present the award.

Our 2024 Woman of Impact recipient is Bishop LeBlond High School Head Girls Volleyball Coach Kimberly Huss.  Huss, who also serves as the school’s principal, has led the Golden Eagles for the past 20 seasons and has set the benchmark of success extremely high.  In 2023, Huss guided LeBlond to a 33-5 overall which vaulted the team to their fourth MSHSAA Final Four appearance and a third-place finish in Class 2.  In total, Coach Huss has accumulated 487 career victories at LeBlond which includes 14 district titles.  In addition to excellence on the volleyball court, Huss is the epitome of the spirit of this award as she states, “When you walk in this gym, you have a tremendous amount of impact.  We work with our players in all facets of their life, particularly a big emphasis on academics.”

Huss along with the 2024 Hall of Fame class consisting of 10 individual inductees, 1 team and the Special Olympics Athlete of the Year will be inducted on Sunday, August 25 during the enshrinement ceremony presented by Atha Bros Ag at Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center with social hour beginning at 4 PM and ceremony at 5 PM.  Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased at stjomosports.com or by calling 816-233-6688.
